This two-day course is designed for experienced surgeons seeking to advance their understanding and surgical expertise in the management of humeral condylar fractures (HCF) and humeral intracondylar fissures (HIF).
Through specialist-led lectures, interactive case discussions, and hands-on wet-lab sessions, participants will explore the aetiopathogenesis, biomechanics, and clinical decision-making associated with these complex conditions. The course places particular emphasis on the management of chronic, malunion, and dicondylar (“Y” and “T”) fractures, as well as the use of modern anatomical plating systems and stabilisation techniques.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of current literature relating to the aetiopathogenesis and treatment of HIF in predisposed breeds, including Spaniels and French Bulldogs.
- Apply advanced surgical techniques for the management of humeral condylar fractures.
- Develop evidence-based strategies for managing chronic, malunion, and complex dicondylar fractures.
- Identify and manage common complications associated with HIF and HCF.
- Gain practical experience using anatomic bone plates and the Humeral Intracondylar Stabilisation and Repair System (HIRS).
