This two-day Standard TPLO course is designed for surgeons with prior experience in small animal orthopaedics who wish to offer Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy (TPLO) as a treatment option for dogs with cranial cruciate ligament disease.
The course provides a comprehensive overview of the biomechanical rationale and evolution of TPLO, alongside practical instruction in case selection, surgical planning, operative technique, and post-operative management. Teaching is delivered through a combination of didactic lectures, case-based discussions, and structured dry-lab and wet-lab practical sessions to support safe and repeatable clinical application.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the biomechanical principles underlying TPLO surgery.
- Perform accurate and repeatable TPLO planning.
- Demonstrate practical skills required for the safe execution of TPLO.
- Identify common intra-operative and post-operative complications.
- Apply appropriate strategies for the prevention and management of TPLO-related complications
This unique facility is nestled on 1.4-acres in the quaint mountain town of Park City and is home to the Bark City Veterinary Specialists practice and Nexus Park City. The property has been newly renovated but retains its rustic mountain charm. Bark City is home to the renowned veterinary orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Brian Beale.
